Scare-It Halloween was started with one vision: to bring our community together and to provide a free, car-free, and safe event for kids and families to take part in trick-or-treating.
Our Impact
This event allows us to serve between 6,000 - 9,000 kids and families every year, creating a safe environment in the inner city for everyone to participate in a long-standing tradition and holiday in the Kansas City metro. This event is put on every year by fundraising. We are in partnership with The Museum of Kansas City, Kansas City Parks and Rec, and Neighborhood Tourism Development Fund (NTDF).

Location
The SRNA works with Kansas City to close vehicle traffic for about six city blocks along north Gladstone to create a safe and car-free trick-or-treating experience on the evening of Halloween for the area.

This free, car-free walking event offers a one-of-a-kind trick-or-treating experience unlike anything else in the city. Children will enjoy street performers, superheroes, live singing and dancing performances, music, beautifully decorated historic homes, and a vibrant sense of community. It’s an unforgettable evening that fosters lasting childhood memories and brings neighbors together in celebration. The event offers a much needed break from daily responsibilities, providing an opportunity to unwind, connect with neighbors, and enjoy quality time with family and friends.

The SRNA is always seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help make this event a success! If you're interested, please email us at [email protected]. We need volunteers to assist with sorting and organizing candy before the event, delivering candy to designated locations, and helping on the day of the event with tasks such as monitoring closure gates, handing out candy, and keeping everything running smoothly. Your support is greatly appreciated!
